I am always almost bumping into people face to face when going down that little hallway connecting the mainn entrance of the library with the computer labs. A nice little convex mirror on the wall would help people see whats coming.

MIRRORS & WALLS - LIBRARY REPLY, Aug 2008

One of the things that was grossly unanticipated when Haggard Hall was converted from its original use as space for biology and chemistry and the associated labs was just how many people would end up using the little door and hallway that leads from the ground level of Haggard to the library foyer.  It's one of those, "If we had it to do over again..." things.

A mirror might just help with the close calls but the ground level - white walls and all - are not library space so we have very little control over how they are managed.

As for our own vast white walls the library has been working with Sarah Clark-Lanager, director of the Western Gallery, to help identify more artwork for permanent display in the library.  We are also interested in bring more traveling exhibitions such as last spring's  Antarctic photo exhibit to our space.

One more time, agreed.

As much as I love the comical encounter when bumping into strangers around those corners, I'd rather there be a few strategically placed convex mirrors coming out of the downstairs labs and around a few of the busier corners.

What about people from ATUS or the STC who need to use a cart to transport a computer or other equipment around these corners? It's more than just the awkward collision between two pedestrians that should be of concern.

oh my gosh, that's the BEST,

oh my gosh, that's the BEST, most simple idea ever!!! LOVE IT!!

Awkward Collisions

Every single time I use that entry, I take a wide turn like a semi truck to avoid collisions--this is effectual MOST of the time. Mirrors in this hall would be amazing. Thanks to whoever came up with this idea!

Now I am envisioning bumper

Now I am envisioning bumper stickers on backpacks reading: CAUTION WIDE TURNS

Agreed! Plus, some artwork

Agreed! Plus, some artwork or something to make it feel a little less like a prison? I mean, the white walls are really depressing... the layout as well [with the many corners] makes it seem like a maze. Art would make the halls more unique.

I agree. I have almost

I agree. I have almost collided with more people than I can count. If we had mirrors like on buses or big trucks I could avoid that problem.
