I think it would be great if the library could be open until 2am. For some odd reason I study much better around 1am and it would be great to have a reasource on campus for that so I didn't have to bug my roommate. Other colleges do it Western can too.

Yeah, it'd be cool/nice if the library was open later.

Buuut, I work at the library. There is no way in heck I would work until 1 or 2 am.

I, just like my coworkers, have class and homework and a life outside of work. I like my job a lot, but I'm a student first.

Also, procrastination is not a very good reason to spend a truckload of money to keep the library open late for you to do you homework past midnight on a Sunday. My advice - DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. Babammmm. Problem solved. :]

This is yet another vote for later hours. The library is an amazing resource on campus. Many of us work jobs that go until 10pm or later. If the library had later hours it would enable more of the student body to use this resource effectively.

If UW can do it so can we... Or at least till 2 or something!

I concur with everything said. I was surprised when I transferred up to Western to find that the University library was only open till midnight. Back home the college library was open 24/7. It was great for studying, especially since the later it got the quieter it got. Once the library closes I am forced to go downstairs to the Haggard computer labs and have to turn my iPod up reeeeeeal loud to tune out the talkative folks. 24/7 please! Or if not, at least a few hours later.

Just another vote for longer hours --
24/7 would be excellent, but if that's not practical, then at least longer hours Friday and Saturday, and keep the Wilson side open until midnight. As an art/bio student, all the books I need are on the Wilson side. Friday and Saturday nights are when I spend the most time painting at the art building, and it's frustrating to not be able to run over and grab a reference when I need it.

I agree- keep it open later. UW's Odegaard library is open 24 hours (excluding Saturday).

I think that the latest that the library could remain open within reason for the staff, is the best possible scenario. Having to switch from the library to the comm building mid study session is irritating and a waste of time. I wish the Lib would just remain open later.

It would be awesome if the library was open later than 12am on weekdays. I work until at least 1030pm on weekdays, and by the time I get home, grab all my books and supplies, it's already 11, and it seems a waste to go to the library for just an hour. If it were open later I'm positive students would take advantage of it.

i would appreciate it if the library opened earlier than noon on Sundays. I have too often tried the door on a Sunday only to find it locked and the library closed. Nine maybe, anything earlier would be great!

Fridays and Saturdays. The library should be open later on weekends; at least until midnight!

I want to echo that later hours at the Library would be great - 2AM on weeknights, at least midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The alternate idea of keeping a smaller portion of the library open 24/7 just as a study area is great as well.

Do whatever you can about it! It never hurts to add more student job opportunities either.

I think that the library definitely needs to be open later on weekends, especially Friday night. I do my best studying then because there are fewer people at the library late on weekends and there are less distraction.

I agree with having the library open later than midnight. I've heard that UW has a policy where they will not let anyone in past a certain hour, but if you are in you can stay as long as you want as long as you show your ID card. Sounds good to me, maybe keep the doors open until 12am and then just let everyone stay that is already there.

First year at WWU, I was working on a large research project, I had decided on working on it Friday and Saturday after class. I headed straight to the library after my class, that got out at 5, and imagine my surprise when I found out that the library closed at 6! Even though it was a Friday, I think that closing the library at 6 on Friday and Saturday is a terrible idea. Even two more hours, I think, would be greatly beneficial. Also, I hate that the Wilson side closes at 10:45; honestly, the majority of the references I need in the library are on the Wilson side, so there is no point in coming at 10:45. Better hours please!!!

Having the library close early on Friday and Saturday is ri-dic-u-lous and bothersome. Having the library close at midnight is also problematic. I know this issue has come up before, so please, please listen to the students on this one and open the library 24/7.

green coats work all throughout the night, so i'm sure there would be students willing to work inside the warm, dry library all night too.

I've heard it mentioned already but I really think it would beneficial to students if the library was open 24/7.

When I go the library it usually isn't until much later that I can actually buckle down and get things accomplished. Closing at 12:00 really sets me back and going home just makes me sleep. The Haggard computer lab works but having to relocate doesn't help. I love the idea of 24 hours during dead and finals week if not all quarter. One thing I will need is coffee and food served later if the library will be open longer.

DEAD week should be 24/7 finals week some poeple are done by monday and tuesday, Dead week is when i need the late hours.

The there is more than enough demand for the library to be open later, and perhaps even almost 24/7. And there are enough students in need of more work on this campus to make the supply possible.

i think on weeknights (especially dead week)the library should be open until 2AM. whenever i am here late there are always a ton of people around that have to migrate down to the computer labs in haggard after 12 when wilson shuts down. i think it would be nice even to have a small section that is open 24/7 with couches and computers where people can study a bit more comfortably during late hours.

I'd like to echo exactly what the other students are saying. Whatever can be done would be awesome, but it just closes too early. I don't ever bother going since I've moved off campus, because its not worth traveling to have to leave by 12.

I always find myself just going downstairs to Haggard and sitting next to a computer studying.

I am sure student employees would be willing to work until at least 1 or 2.

I would love the ability to come into the library at 11pm and leave at 3am instead of having to plan my evening around when the library closes. I do my best tudying late at night and I hate having to study in my room. The library should be open longer and have student workers working late nights like at other universities. Extend the hours!!!

I agree that we need to be cognizant of the additional time and resources required to staff the library for additional hours, but it really is one of the most important spaces on campus and should receive top priority. I would like to see the library open earlier than 7:30am on weekdays - for those with 8:00am classes who wish to study before class, the library doesn't provide the availability to so. Also, later hours are absolutely needed! At least 2:00am on weekday nights, with perhaps 24 hours access during midterms and finals.

Simple, more staff, people work because it makes them better off, the campus should hire them because they will make the entire student body better off, end of story. 24 hour access to the Library!

I sometimes spend multiple days in a row at school until closing. It would be helpful to be able to stay in a part of the library instead of the uncomfortable computer labs in Haggard.
