Better pay for student workers, especially the long-term ones that work hard! Either (1) more than 10 cents every three quarters or (2) pay raises more often than every three quarters. I love working at the library but at times I feel a bit unfairly compensated.

I disagree.
I have worked at the library (as well as other jobs around Bellingham) for the past 4 years. I feel valued as a student employee. Wages are comparable with other jobs in this area requiring similar skill levels. I have earned less money doing much harder/more tedious work as a grocery checker, house cleaner, phonathon caller, and sales clerk at Macy's (when you account for union dues).
Coworkers/supervisors are very understanding and great, scholarships are available to help out with school, and I really appreciate how work schedules are set around your class schedule to make it convenient.
It has been a pleasure working here these past 4 years! Pay is not great, but the work environment, flexibility, and convenience more than make up for it.
I've worked here for 4
I've worked here for 4 years, and i feel the pay is plenty - yeah its a bummer for people to start out with nearly the same wage, but if you want a raise, ask and work hard for it.
Agree
I haven't been working in the library very long but i am a hard worker and get my job done well and efficiently but i get paid less than the temp workers who do the same job's i do. I know i work harder than many of the other emplyees and have a better track record of being on time so why cant i get a raise now rather than waiting til i'm a returning student.
Re: Better Pay for Student Workers
I agree with the first comment to this statement. Just to start out, I love my job!!! I am so happy I am employed at the library. With that said, my friend works at the WWU card office and he gets a raise for every certain amount of hours he works. In this way, I feel like the work I put into the library will be equally rewarded. That's just a suggestion, it might not work but I thought it was good to bring to the table.
P.S. I LOVE WORKING IN THE LIBRARY!!!
P.S.S. Could we look into getting name tags or badges or something, so that when we're closing, people don't look at me like I'm unofficial or just strange for asking them to leave. : )
You know, I hate to agree--I
You know, I hate to agree--I really love my job--but it's true. Watching people who started a quarter ago and don't know the ropes yet get paid almost as much as I do (to within forty cents), after two and a half years, feels kind of like getting punched, especially when raises get subsumed by minimum wage increases (which, if I remember correctly, has happened twice since I've been working here). I just don't feel valued as an employee.
