Keep the library open longer. As many have pointed out, the library is the only quiet place to study for many students. The library hours on Friday and Saturday are absurdly short. It would be nice if the Haggard section was open 24 hours per day, and if not that, at least until 2-3 AM.

The fact that the library is open 96.5 hours a week and the rec center is open 106 hours a week says something about how serious Western is about education.

Extend hours to be open 24/7. The limited hours at the library are crazy!!!

i often study late into the night so its nice to have the library available tell midnight becuase i get distracted easily at home. however, when midnight rolls around and the library closes im forced to try and study at home which is often unproductive. It would be very helpful if the library or a section of the lib were open 24/7, at least while school is in session.

An area of the library that was open 24 hours everyday would be very helpful.

It would also be really helpful if we had computers designated only for printing, so people can get in and out when they need to.

Some things that could be improved:

Only about half of the desks in the library are ever used because they are too close together.
Solution: shorter desks that could be spaced farther apart.

The library is very noisy for a library.
Solution: designate whole floors (but not the whole library) as quiet areas and enforce these areas.

Probably the most FRUSTERATING moment at Western was when I needed desperately to access a printer and needed to do research late Saturday night (around 7:00PM)

The library WASN'T EVEN OPEN. It's so frusterating knowing we pay so much for tuition and can't even access resources.

LATER WEEKEND HOURS PLEASE. Some of us need that weekend studying, and the library is a great place to go.

Do we really need inter-library loan? Most students write a paper a few days before it is due. The inter-library loan requests take a few days to arrive. These are inefficiant and don't work with most students style of work ethic. Plus it is an expensive option. Are there other alternatives?

Creating a 24 hour study area would be beneficial to our growing campus. Prime study times are Sunday Mornings and Friday nights.

I have a number of ideas, being the library veteran that I am. Delineated noise areas (silent floors, quiet floors and soundproofing of the group study rooms) would enable more effective studying for all library-goers. Longer weekend hours (open earlier, stay open later). Having longer cafe hours that match library hours. Finally, more tables and less cubbies because cubbies are too small for research or using more than one book or a laptop and a book at the same time.

It may cost too much to keep the whole library open for 24 hours and extend hours on the weekends. However, the library may try to open some area for longer hours instead of the whole library with full services.

Longer weekend hours will be really good such as close later than rec center on Saturdays and open earlier in Sunday mornings.

Saturdays are boring because both the library and rec center close at 8PM. I can go to neither the library nor rec center after 8 PM.
